2nd Show

June 19th & 20th, 10AM – 8PM at The Yellow Barn in Glen Echo Park

The title of the show is “Looking / Back,” which is expressive of the retrospective aspects of the show, and its debt to the great artists of the past. Below, I’ve included a small sample of the 50+ works of art — drawings and paintings, graphite and charcoal, oil and watercolor — and detailed directions on how (and when!) to get to it

.

This image from my trip to Scotland and Iceland
in 2017 is one of a dozen and a half landscapes.
This study in color and abstraction is one of a half-dozen still lifes in the show
This charcoal sketch, one of four in the show, is from a painting by Jacques-Louis David
The show includes about a dozen portraits in oils; this one is of Mike Platt in his costume for the 2018 Christmas Revels
I’m including four pencil sketches, including this one of Mark Jaster at the Maryland Renaissance Fair

Four of the paintings are almost pure abstracts; this one is (tentatively) titled “Raptures of the Deep”

Here’s a link to the website for directions and parking at Glen Echo, where you’ll find The Yellow Barn Gallery. In the image I’ve pasted here to the left, the gallery is directly below the ‘Mac’ in MacArthur Boulevard. The website directs you toward the main parking lot for Glen Echo, tho’ I expect you’ll be able to park in the Permit Parking Lot shown in

About Barry Galef

I am an "economist emeritus" and a visual artist. I've been carving distinctive Jack o'Lanterns since I started college, closing in on 50 years ago. This site has links to ten Jack o'Lanterns, a set of 44 paintings from a show I presented in 2017, and a page offering portraits. After June, 2021, there should be images from another show as well.
